Ultron Renewable Power Company Ltd. (URPC)
URPC is developing a Borehole Productive-Use Pilot in collaboration with Kampala City Council (KCC) and selected microfinance institutions, targeting borehole operators that provide water services to communities, water kiosks, institutions, and SME water vending businesses.
The pilot is structured to deliver predictable pumping hours, lower operating cost, and improved asset protection, reducing dependence on diesel and minimising downtime that disrupts water availability and revenue.
• Solar PV + hybrid pumping configuration engineered around borehole duty cycles and required pumping windows
• Optional battery support where ride-through or continuity is required for service assurance
• Protection and control discipline suitable for motor loads (safe start/stop logic, surge/lightning protection, earthing)
• Basic monitoring and reporting to track performance, support planned maintenance, and enable service accountability
• KCC-enabled stakeholder coordination to support site identification, permissions, and programme governance
• Microfinance-enabled affordability pathway for operators where capex is a barrier, aligned with predictable operating savings and service revenue
• URPC provides implementation oversight and a maintenance framework to protect long-term performance
• More reliable water access and improved continuity of service
• Reduced diesel expenditure and lower maintenance overhead
• Improved pump lifespan through stable operating conditions
• A replicable template for scaling across multiple boreholes under a city-supported microproductivity programme
