Ultron Renewable Power Company Ltd. (URPC)
URPC develops, delivers, and operates solar PV, PV+BESS, and hybrid power systems for commercial, industrial, agricultural, agro-logistics, and community users. We manage projects end-to-end—from site assessment and engineering through commissioning, monitoring, and long-term O&M.
A hybrid system combines solar PV with one or more of the following: battery storage (BESS), grid supply, and (where required) a generator. The objective is to improve reliability, reduce diesel and grid dependence, and stabilise power quality.
Yes, Batteries are deployed where they materially improve reliability, load management, and bill outcomes. We design storage to match operating profiles and critical loads, not as a generic add-on.
Yes, where appropriate. In some hybrid configurations, the BESS can be charged during off-peak hours and discharged during peak hours to reduce costs and manage reliability. This is governed by system controls, site needs, and applicable utility requirements.
Bidirectional metering separately measures energy imported from the grid and exported back to the grid. This supports accurate settlement, performance verification, and export remuneration where applicable.
Where the project structure and approvals allow, URPC can support the technical design, metering strategy, and documentation needed for grid-interactive systems, aligned to Uganda’s net metering framework.
We evaluate:
• Available space (roof/ground) and structural constraints
• Load profile and operating hours
• Reliability issues (outages, voltage variation, diesel reliance)
• Site access, security, and compliance requirements
• Metering and grid interface constraints (if grid-tied)
Typically:
• Last 3 months electricity bills (or longer if available)
• Operating hours and any peak load periods
• Generator details and typical diesel usage (if applicable)
• Photos of available installation space and the main distribution board
• Site address and Google Maps pin
Timelines depend on system size, site readiness, approvals, and equipment lead times. URPC uses a stage-gated process (assessment → design → procurement → installation → commissioning → O&M) to maintain delivery control.
URPC designs around internationally recognised IEC standards for PV grid interface, anti-islanding, and power conversion safety, with UK/European engineering governance and QA processes. Examples include IEC 61727, IEC 62116, and IEC 62109-1.
We apply a documented protection philosophy, safe isolation procedures, commissioning test plans, and HSE controls (including working-at-height discipline where relevant). Systems are designed with appropriate switchgear, protection devices, and monitored alarms.
O&M typically includes monitoring, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance (SLA-based), PV cleaning on a seasonal cadence, spares strategy, warranty management, and KPI reporting.
Service levels are agreed in an SLA schedule with incident severity tiers, response targets, dispatch targets, restoration targets, and exclusions (e.g., grid outages, force majeure, and client-caused events).
URPC investigates performance variance via monitoring data, on-site checks, and root-cause analysis. Corrective actions may include cleaning adjustments, inverter tuning, protection checks, component replacement (including warranty claims), and operating profile optimisation.
URPC works with financing stakeholders and partners (including banks and green financing pathways) where available, and can package lender-ready diligence documentation. Financing eligibility is assessed using initial screening data and then refined after a site visit.
For relevant sectors and deployment models, URPC can implement prepaid mobile-money connected meters to support structured repayments and operational control (subject to contract terms and site suitability).
